It has been a few since I have been here lots going on. Kids do not get any easier as teens someone should have warned me. The truck has been down after fixing the wheel bearing the air conditioner is acting up and that is a large expense ugh vehicles are gonna nickle/dime us I think, seems as the truck has a attitude since I nicknamed it "The beast of burden" lol, it is very much living up to the name for sure.

Coupons are meaning so much more for me right now with the truck being a pain and Christmas coming up shortly and stocking up on all the goodie ingredients I am going to use for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Triple Coupons! Yes! PDF Print E-mail

Being in a rural town there is not many choices on supermarkets in our town basically you have Chiefs Supermarket, Aldis, Walmart and IGA. There is a Krogers a town over but it's a bit of a drive not that it matter if the sales are right then I am there, but this week Chiefs had triple coupons which was awesome they only do this every so often and I had to take advantage plus they had some sweet deals. So this week since rent and all the big bills are due we decided to go ahead and get 2 weeks worth of groceries that way I don't have to worry about dinner next week and if I need bread or whatever the bread store always has bread for .89 cents so I can stock up. So they had chicken breasts 1.69 a lb so I got 7lbs they came in 2 lb packages and chicken leg quarters for .69 a lb. and I got 10 lbs of those. Red meat was not on sale at all and I refuse to pay 3.99 a lb for ground beef and sometimes a break is good from red meat. Not much junk this time around because I needed to replenish my pantry some with some pasta and canned tomatoes and a few other baking odds and ends. So I got 2 weeks of food for 140.00 that is 70.00 per week which isn't bad when I was use to spending 120.00 for one week before I started using coupons.

BTW if you didn't get your inserts you missed out on 3 great ones this Sunday. P&G, Redplum and Select Source I am planning on going back to Chiefs they have all on sale for 2.99 till Wed. and I have a 1.00 off and 2/.50 off coupons= Cheap Laundry Soap!

If you didn't get your inserts visit Redplum there is a .50 off of All laundry detergent and  other great coupons make sure you get them before they are gone.

I am a Java Junkie PDF Print E-mail

That's right I admit it I love me some coffee and I drink quite a bit but hey it is my vice and seeing what I could be a junkie of I am doing pretty well. I make my own I don't have a fancy grinder or brewer I plain ol' Bunn coffee pot and I am happy with that. Living in a rural town I don't have Tim Horton's or Starbucks but when we did live in the City Tim's was awesome. Cappuccino which I love the closest thing to that is the the gas station/minimart and yes I am guilty of grabbing a Pumpkin Spice when it is fall my kids love it too the only thing coffee my boys will drink.

Who turned me into this caffeine monster? My mother she would be sipping that black cup of smelly good stuff and I would ask for a sip she obliged and I was hooked it got to where I was drinking half of her cups I had a ton of energy and was like wow this is great then I started making my own cups, I was never a cream and sugar kinda girl at home it is strictly black but if I am out and about I will grab some cream and sugar just to cool it down some.

My daughter loves coffee and makes some every morning on her way out to the bus she is a honor student and says it helps who am I to get in the way of progress, now don't get me wrong I think moderation is key we all don't have to be jacked up on caffeine all day to get things done but there are some benefits.

Now the downfall besides the headache you get if you don't at least have 1 cup in the morning is coffee is so pricey right now my coffee consumption has slowed to a crawl and coupons have not been as plentyfull as when I first  started using them and that is sad. So all my Java Junkie friends what have you done to conserve just slowed down? Quit buying coffee at a coffee shop? Started drinking tea? Share in my comments below and let me know.

Farmers Markets YAY PDF Print E-mail

So this morning we got up early I had my coffee and we left out for the farmers market here in town. It is not very big 3 vendors total but the food was fantastic looking and I was so glad I got up early this morning.  1 vendor was someone selling honey looked great but pricey I am sure very much worth the money but we are on a budget this week. Next totally organic produce he had beautiful carrots and some green beans again pricey but hoping to be able to try his stuff out next Saturday. Then a couple who had some great looking produce and looked as though they grew everything themselves they had some great looking watermelons small little round things she asked me if I wanted to try a yellow watermelon sure I love watermelon and I will try anything once and wow YUM very sweet and so juicy so I bought 2 and some awesome looking green peppers 3/1.00. Next booth was Amish cakes and cookies and pies homemade of course but 7.00 for a 8" pie I thought to myself as much as a homemade cherry pie sounds I could totally make a cobbler later for dessert I got Bisquick! Last but not least Bowman Produce has a stand family ran great flowers and produce and have various stand set up around Ohio beautiful produce next time I hope to take my camera because wow, so they had some beautiful green beans and I ended up getting 2 lbs and I am going to freeze them for winter nothing like a huge pot of green beans, ham and potatoes to warm your belly when it is cold out. Oh I almost forgot the peaches they looked awesome and I will be using them in some smoothies later.

So here is my farmers market loot Laughing

6 Days and Counting PDF Print E-mail
Written by Rhonda
Thursday, 18 August 2011 19:31

So 6 days till I can reclaim my house from my children. I love them being home don't get me wrong they are great little creatures but momma needs a break! My oldest Ronnie this will be his last year my daughter is a Sophomore this year and well my baby boy (shhh don't tell him I said that) will be in 6th grade. But I miss my coffee with Dr. Phil with nobody coming and asking me what the plans for the day are or turning it to CMT or MTV without asking me first or just plain randomness that just happens when they are all awake and moving. So as much as I love my children I will be sending them out the door next Wednesday morning and doing a little dance as I see them fade away to the bus stop. Peace and Quiet YESSSSS!!!!!

The best part of the week was getting the truck back home after paying 350.00 that hurt the truck has now been renamed " The Beast of Burden" because the mechanic told us after replacing the one wheel bearing on the passenger side the drivers side would probably be out within the next 6 months (insert cuss words here). But on the track we are currently on with couponing I think it will work out ok we have seen a major difference in how much we have left over each week and I am very surprised and still very upset with myself for not starting this sooner.

I hope everyone has been enjoying the recipes lately I do enjoy cooking and even coming up with things and have a partial list of the things I am going to try this week. I grabbed some ground beef 1.99 lb. which is awesome because it is has been 3.00 lb. or more  and grabbed some nice pork steaks for 1.99 lb too trying to find some great ideas to go with those. Cheeseburgers and roasted potatoes were on the menu tonight and they were great! I just wish I would have picked up something sweet mmmmm something with chocolate sure does sound good.

I have a beautiful Zucchini and of course I could fry it up but I do not want to fry this I would like to figure out something more healthy to do with it if you have any suggestions please comment below and I will pick one and put it up for everyone to see with the winner of course getting full credit. BTW sorry the picture is so dark used my phone my digital camera is MIA.
